The
"base" of any race motor! If the block is machined properly
the - engine stays together. When we build an engine, the block is completely
thermal-cleaned, shot blasted and thoroughly inspected for any
inconsistencies that will limit potential horsepower.
Cylinder
walls are measured to determine any "core-shift" that may have
occurred during OEM casting. Prior to the boring operation, any slight
variance is corrected to ensure the maximum possible wall thickness.
Boring to 5"
diameter. Piston-to-wall clearances and excellent cylindricity are
accurately established during this operation - and always with the main caps
torqued to proper specifications.
Honing - always with a torque
plate - to exacting specifications and the proper pattern for excellent
ring sealing. "Plateau" finish is available!
Decking
to ensure flatness of the block to the mating cylinder heads - a must for high
compression engines!
Line-honing of mains.
The stability of the crankshaft in a high-revving engine is maintained
with concentric mains - accomplished by line honing!
